Azulejo: (pronounced ah-zoo-le-zhoo) is a form of Portuguese painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. Azulejos are found on the interior and exterior of churches, palaces and ordinary houses. It has its origin in the Arabic term for a small, smooth polished stone – aljulej or azulej. They are an ornamental art form, but also have a specific functional capacity like temperature control in homes
